Shockwave Therapy: Where Healing Meets Innovation

Shockwave Therapy
What is Veterinary Shock Wave Therapy?

Also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), this treatment uses focused high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process at a cellular level.

Unlike “shocks” you might feel from electricity, these are sound waves that penetrate deep into muscles and joints. This process reduces inflammation and triggers tissue regeneration—all without the need for invasive surgery or incisions.

Common Conditions We Treat
  • Joint & Bone Health: Highly effective for Osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, and helping fractures heal significantly faster.

  • Ligament & Tendon Repairs: Speeds up recovery for CCL tears, tendonitis, and chronic soft tissue strains.

  • Chronic Pain Relief: Reduces deep-seated inflammation in the back and neck, improving mobility in senior pets.

  • Wound Healing: Stimulates localized blood flow to help chronic or “slow-to-heal” wounds close and repair.

What to Expect During a Session
  • Quick & Efficient: Most treatments are completed in just 10–15 minutes.

  • Safe & Gentle: The procedure is non-invasive. While some pets require very light sedation to remain still, many tolerate it comfortably.

  • Rapid Results: Many owners notice an improvement in their pet’s mobility and comfort level within 24 to 72 hours.

  • Outpatient Care: There is no “hospital stay” required. Your pet goes home immediately following their session.

Science & Support

Multiple veterinary studies demonstrate improved mobility, faster healing, and reduced lameness in pets receiving ESWT for tendon injuries and orthopedic recovery. At TLC Animal Hospital, we use this technology to bridge the gap between simple pain meds and major surgery.

Is Shockwave Therapy Right for Your Pet?

If your pet is struggling with stiffness, limping, or chronic pain that isn't responding fully to traditional medication, our team can help determine if ESWT is the right solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of behavior problems can you help with?

We commonly see anxiety, aggression, house soiling, destructive chewing or scratching, vocalization, reactivity toward people or other pets, fear of certain situations, and stress in newly adopted pets. Call us.

Do you prescribe medication?

When appropriate, yes. Medication or supplements can support behavior modification by helping pets feel calmer and more receptive to training. All recommendations are based on your pet’s health and test results.

Why do you need to do blood work?

Some behavior changes are caused or worsened by medical conditions like pain, metabolic disease, hormone changes or neurologic issues. Lab work helps us rule those out before starting therapy.

How soon will I see results?

Every pet is different. Some respond within a couple of weeks, while others need more time and follow-up. We will guide you on what to expect based on your pet’s diagnosis and plan.
